Semi-finished export trade down 73%

From January to July of 2008 China exported 6,000 tonnes of semi-finished leather, worth $17.38 million, representing a decline of 73%. Exports of the finished leather were 21,000 tonnes, valued at $280 million, a decline of 62%.
At the same time imports of semi-finished leather declined to 440,000 tonnes, worth $690 million, down 9%. Imports of finished leather dropped to 143,000 tonnes, worth $1.63 billion, a 19% decrease year-on-year.
