Buckman merges leather and performance chemicals

15/09/2008

From October 1, Buckman Laboratories will incorporate the activities of its leather technologies group within the scope of the performance chemicals division.

The company says this move will complement several other protective surface treatment industries already covered by the Performance Chemicals Division, such as wood, paint, coatings, and plastics. It says Buckman’s leather customers will  experience no interruption in service or product availability.

Charles Carncross, vice president of the performance chemicals division, said on announcing the development: “We are very pleased to add the complementary technical, product, and sales expertise that our leather group has to contribute. The inclusion of the sales and support staff will provide for significant technology and application transfer among the eleven industries served by Performance Chemicals.  In addition, our leather associates will now have an opportunity to support a broader base of customers and applications – a broader portfolio so to speak.”
