CICB introduces new Brazilian report

The Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), has published a new statistical and diagnostic analysis of the Brazilian leather sector, based on the industry’s performance in 2007.
The publication focuses on the obstacles, challenges and opportunities encountered by the sector, including the overvaluation of the real against the US dollar, which hinders the performance of exports, the delay in export credit refunds and excessive bureaucracy.
Leather exports increased by 16.8% and brought in $2.18 billion, the first time the figure has exceeded the $2 billion mark.
