Taiwanese machinery exports rise

According to figures from the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, the country exported machinery worth $8.6 billion in the first half of 2008, an annual rise of 12.4%.

Machinery exports for the leather and shoe industries rose significantly to $44.2 million, a rise of 28% year-on-year. Textile machinery exports fell 16.4% to $273.7 million, machinery exports for moulds and dyes rose 9.7% to $269.7 million and sewing machine exports rose 1.2% to $189 million.
