BLC leather design award winners announced
BLC has sponsored the leather design award competition for fashion students at the University of Northampton for the third time. This time the challenge was taken up by first year students.
The brief was to create innovative products using leather as the core material based on a theme of accessories for 2008/09. The objective was to demonstrate and promote the versatility of leather and to encourage designers to take full advantage of the material.
The starting point for the students was a visit to BLC premises, located next to the university, to learn about the organisation and the building in which the designs would be displayed.
The number of winners was increased from three to six. First prize went to Robyn Headley, second prize to Laurell Wilding and joint third prize was awarded to Olivia Broadman and Sarah Bunting. Joint fourth prize was given to Alice Cheaney and Natalya Koval.
