Clariant issues colour forecast
The new shade card for autumn-winter 2009-10 has been released by chemicals specialist Clariant’s leather division. The colour forecast shows a shift from vivid, bright colours to easy-to-wear rich and soft tones. Pattern and detail replace the previous minimalist trend. It includes four main themes: Tradition, Craftsman, Woodland Spirit and Charm School. Tradition is designed to reflect the traditions and handicrafts of various cultures and includes rich reds and golds, acer and maple leaf contrasted with berry darks such as juniper berry. Craftsman revives fine craftsmanship found in beaten metal sculptures and includes dark shades such as oxide and weathered bronze. Woodland Spirit reflects environmental concerns and offers forest greens such as pine needle and mushroom tints such as porcini. Charm School features sugary sweet colours of muted winter pastels such as buttercream and strawberry fool, anchored with black to offer a 1950s look. These colours are demonstrated on leather samples which show the company’s new Melioderm dyes. The finishing recipes are based on its Neosan 2000 and PPE Pigment range.
