Leather goods sales up at Swank

Men’s accessories and leather goods firm Swank, Inc. has posted a decline in sales for the second quarter and first half of 2008.

Net sales for the quarter ended June 30 totalled $25.8 million, down 12%, or $3.5 million, compared with the same quarter ended June 30, 2007. However, personal leather goods rose 24.5% for the quarter. Belt sales fell 20.4% for the quarter.

Meanwhile, net sales for the six-month period ended June 30 totalled $50.5 million, a decrease of $3.8 million, or 7%, compared with the corresponding period in 2007. Net sales of the personal leather goods increased 24% year-on-year, while belt sales fell 13.2%.
