Roberto Coin goes for gold
Italy-based luxury jeweller Roberto Coin has created several new pieces in celebration of the Beijing Olympics including an 18 karat white gold boxing glove with diamond accents, a ‘good luck’ panda made from 18 karat white gold with diamonds and black sapphires and a diamond ‘symbol of peace’ pendant.
Perhaps the most spectacular item is the golden sneaker, made from high-tech, 24 karat gold varnished nappa leather, coated with a PVC-lacquered film. The sneaker is finished off with an 18 karat yellow-gold clasp and Coin's signature ruby. The shoe is priced at $31,000.
Roberto Coin has been a well-known figure in the jewellery industry for more than thirty years. His creations have been worn by celebrities such as Ashley Judd, Salma Hayek, Brooke Shields, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
