Leather production falls 22%

According to the Slovakian statistics office, industrial production rose 6.2% in June compared with June 2007 figures, with manufacturing production up 7.2%.

Manufacturing levels rose across many sectors including electrical and optical equipment (20.4%), chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibres rose 10.3% and machinery and equipment grew 3.5%.

However, the sector showing the largest decline was leather and leather products (-22%), followed by wood and wood products (11.2%) and textiles and textile products (9.6%).
