Clariant presents finishing products at ACLE
In addition to a range of wet end and dyeing products, specialty chemicals firm Clariant is to introduce a series of finishing products at ACLE in Shanghai.
Melio Aquabase M-88 is a product with high filling substances used to cover deep defects in order to make them invisible after finishing. It is applied by hand with a spatula and is suitable for a wide range of leathers, including automotive, shoe upper and upholstery leathers. Its special composition means that it can be applied without drying too fast and creating clumps, and can be buffed without smearing.
Melio Aquabase RN-03 and RN-04 are also strong filling products. Both are used to fill up deep crust defects to make them invisible after finishing. RN-03 has lower viscosity than RN-04; however, both products can be mixed easily to adjust the viscosity. Both can be used for different types of leather, such as car upholstery, furniture, shoe uppers and splits.
Top coat products include Aqualen Top LN, a new ecological for aqueous patent leather imitation. It is an aqueous, modified, aliphatic polyurethane dispersion and leathers finished with it show brilliance and gloss. Others include Aqualen Top DC-2050 (dull) and Aqualen Top DC-2051(gloss), developed for soft leathers such as furniture leather or shoe upper leather nappas. Both products can be mixed in any ratio to adjust the desired level of gloss or dullness. Aqualen Top DP-HW is based on a polymeric duller and is suitable for upholstery including aftermarket. It inhabits a very high dulling degree and offers high-level abrasion resistance. It can be combined with other dull or glossy topcoat products.
Other finishing products include: Neosan 2000 pigments used in conjunction with Pelcroma for accurate, true and brilliant colours; three new shades in the
Supronil HK range dyes range; Melio Ground UP, a high filling and sealing pre-base that maintains the crust’s softness; Melio Wax PO-408-US for conventional and water-resistant pull-up leathers; and Melio Coater P-30, a new, medium-soft universal PU for shoe uppers, furniture and car upholstery leathers.
