Top-level China appointments for Stahl
29/07/2008
Stahl has recently made two important top-level appointments in China, reflecting the company’s focus on the Chinese market.
Andrew Fairhead has been appointed as director of the company’s leather finish (LF) division for Greater China. In this role he has the responsibility for building up leather finish-related business in China and increasing the volume of products manufactured in Stahl’s Suzhou plant.
He has a long history of roles in technical and commercial management in the chemical industry, starting his career in Stahl UK over 30 years ago. From there he emigrated to Australia to set up the Stahl Shoe Division, based in Wetherill Park, a Sydney suburb. He ran his own businesses for many years and now rejoins Stahl from his most recent position as Asia regional business director for a leading multi-national competitor.
Colleagues at Stahl say Mr Fairhead has made a very strong start to building up the team spirit among the Chinese staff and has formed strong personal and business relationships with agents and key customers. He is already a well-respected member of the LF business team, working under the direction of Hans Boots, the global LF director.
Fabrizio Ugolini has recently taken on the role of LF technical manager for the Chinese market. He brings with him many years of practical and sales and marketing experience in both the manufacturing and supply segments.
His hands-on tannery experience lasted for many years in a family-owned tannery in northern Italy prior to working as global sales and marketing manager for a multi-national competitor.
He is based in the newly-formed application laboratory in Shanghai and a key part of his role it to provide technical and marketing support for the team of local technicians and regional managers. His role includes the preparation of leather collections for the important annual Guangzhou and Shanghai leather fairs as well as product development to support the Chinese market and Stahl’s local manufacturing site in Suzhou.
