A recent report by the United Nations (UN) into the effects of Cyclone Nagris, which hit Myanmar three months ago, has concluded that, in addition to loss of human life and the devastation suffered by towns and villages in the affected area, half of the livestock population in the worst hit parts of the country was wiped out.

The cyclone caused 600,000 hectares of agricultural to be flooded. The UN calculates the total cost of damages as $4 billion.
