Prevention campaign
24/07/2008
The Rome-based United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation has launched a campaign to prevent cattle in the seven countries of Central America from contracting mad cow disease.
The bulk of the budget of $473 million will go on setting up checks across Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama to make sure any instances of the disease are picked up quickly, preventing problematic foodstuffs from affecting other animals.
