Leather industry could come to a standstill

The leather industry in Uruguay faces serious unrest because, workers say, an agreed increase in wages that should have come in in June has still not materialised.

Workers’ groups have already complained to the country’s leather industry representatives, but say they have had no useful response. The have decided that,from July 31, all tannery workers in tanneries will go on a one-hour strike every shift.
