Pakistan’s exports are expected to increase by 15% this year if the government improves power supply and opens promised new industrial clusters for leather, sports equipment and surgical instruments, commerce minister, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, has said.
Overseas shipments in the year that started July 1 are forecast to climb to $22.1 billion from $19.2 billion in the previous 12 months, Mukhtar said in a televised speech from Islamabad today. He didn't set a target for imports or the trade gap which widened to a record $20.7 billion last year.
