Marfrig looks across the border

Marfrig, one of Brazil's largest meat packing groups, has leased the Noblemark meat packing plant in Fray Bentos, Uruguay, according to the local authorities.
The Noblemark plant has been closed since April 30 and since then the company has been seeking investors to resume its operations.
According to Marfrig's general manager Omar Lafluf, the group has also signed a six-month lease for the Jugos del Uruguay plant, owned by the Baggio group, also in Fray Bentos.
