Inflation hits leather sector

Venezuela's central bank has reported an increase in inflation in the manufacturing sector in the country for the first half of 2008.

The leather sector is one of those affected, registering the second-highest rate of inflation after metals.

Overall, Venezuela has inflation of 10.9%, which is 2.3% higher than for the first half of 2007. The rate for the metal sector was almost 5.2%, while leather and leathergoods registered 3.9%.
