Brazil: wet blue export duty stays at 9%

03/07/2008

The Brazilian Chamber of Foreign Trade decided at a meeting on July 3, that the duty on exports of wet blue leather, which was first imposed in May 2001, is to stay at 9%.

Trade associations in the leather and footwear productive chain, including the Association of Tanners of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (AICSul) and the Brazilian Association of Footwear Manufacturers (Abicalçados), had been lobbying to prevent the duty from going up.
