An accessories company based in Curitiba in the state of Paraná in Brazil has launched a new collection combining silver with tanned tilapia skin.
The company, Wishes, says its target customers are women who care about the environment as well as beauty.
The new line, called Scales, is part of a wider collection called Bella Jackie. The goods—necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets—are the work of designer Maria Dolores Matos.
Owner and founder of Wishes, Daniela Leão, says she wants the company to keep up with the latest fashion trends by working with socially important projects.
In this case, she buys the fishskins directly from tilapia farms in the Amazon region and arranges to have them tanned and dyed to her specifications.
