Trade with Cuba
01/07/2008
A business delegation from the Chamber of Industries of Nicaragua travelled to Cuba on July 1 to promote trade relations between the two countries.
Humberto Arguellos, who headed up the group, said the goods the different members had to offer—leather shoes and meat were prominent among them—could represent $20 million in imports to the Cuban market.
He added that they intend to develop bilateral trade through the a scheme called the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), which aims to have countries in Latin America and the Caribbean work with each other in a similar way to countries with free trade agreements in place.
The Nicaraguan firms involved include packer company Industrial San Martín and leather chemicals provider Quibor.
