Leather a good option for women

A women’s business leader in Ethiopia has urged female entrepreneurs in the African country to look at the leathergoods sector as a possible way of making an impression on export markets.
The president of the Ethiopian Women Exporters’ Association (EWEA), Hadiya Gonji, has said her organisation was working to help women merchants find markets for their goods, promote their businesses and share experience and information with other Ethiopian women.
The sectors the 35 EWEA members are involved in so far include leather and leathergoods, as well as coffee, flowers and textiles. Together, they have already earned $8 million this year. Ms Gonji said that working together they could push this total much higher.
