Bertin makes case for sustainability in animal husbandry

30/06/2008

Brazilian packer and tanning group Bertin has presented its sustainability programme for the animal husbandry productive chain at Feicorte,  an international trade fair devoted to the subject, held in São Paulo from June 17–21.

The group’s main aim is to spread the use of good agricultural and handling practices as well as setting up what it calls an ‘environmental commitment register’, which it believes will help producers improve their environmental and technical performance.

Better animal husbandry is good news for the leather sector because it leads to better quality hides.
