Italy and India tied up for up lift of tanning industry

To train tanners in Tamil Nadu, promote clean production technology and explore opportunities for joint ventures and business partnerships, the Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers and Exporters Association, based in Chennai has entered into an agreement with Associazione Conciatori, based in Santa Croce, Italy.

Industry authorities in India expressed hope that over 900 tanneries in Tamil Nadu, which together account for about 60% of leather production in India, would benefit from the new agreement.

A delegation of tanners from Italy will visit Tamil Nadu later this year to explore business opportunities.
