Nano needs recognition

Taipei-based NeoGila Co, which manufactures leather for furniture, and is also developing nano silver anti-bacterial solutions to add to upholstery and textiles, has said the use of nano materials adds nearly 30% to his company’s production costs.

“The government should consider incorporating a ‘nanoMark’ into environmental labels to make nano products more popular,” company chairman Chen Chang-chuan said, adding that consumers lacked awareness of the benefits.

It's also the case that some experts harbour serious concerns about the possible impact on health—an important issue in the upholstery market at the moment—of migratory silver nanoparticles.
