Livestock population increases

Official figures from the government of Pakistan show an increase of 2.66% in the country’s livestock population, with the total for all species exceeding 150 million head during the 2007–2008 financial year.
The break-down of this figure shows that Pakistan has 56.7 million goats, 31.8 million head of cattle, 29
million head of buffalo and 27.1 million sheep, as well as a million camels and 300,000 horses. The government statistics also count around 4.5 million asses and mules in the overall total.
