Yves St Laurent dies
02/06/2008
One of the giants of the twentieth-century fashion industry, Yves St Laurent, has died at the age of 71.
He burst onto the fashion scene in 1958 as the successor to Christian Dior, and made black leather jackets the main feature of his last collection for the Dior fashion house.
He opened his own couture house in 1962 and never looked back; in fact he was credited by many with rejuvenating French fashion. He retired in 2002.
