Leather up, footwear down

Pakistan has registered growth of 22.9% in the production of leather on a month by month basis for March. In March 2008, it produced 1.9 million square metres compared to 1.5 million square metres in March 2007.

According to data released by Federal Bureau of Statistics, the country also produced 2.1 million pairs of shoes in March 2008 compared to almost 2.3 million pairs in March 2007, a reduction of 7.1%.
