Automotive seating supplier Johnson Controls has announced that it will build a new production facility in Georgia to make interiors for car brand Kia.

The new factory will support Kia's new site on a business park near West Point and will supply what Johnson Controls calls “complete seating systems” for a new-generation model of sports utility vehicle for Kia.

The Korean automotive company hopes the factory will start production in late 2009.

Beda Bolzenius, chief executive of Johnson Controls, said on announcing the development: “Johnson Controls is pleased to support Kia with quality seating and interior products. We’re also proud to open a new facility and bring jobs to the West
Point area. We are grateful for the support we have received from the local and state government officials in Georgia for their assistance on this project.”
