Hillary Clinton opposes JBS acquisitions

Senator Hillary Clinton has criticised the sale of US meat packing companies by Brazilian group JBS-Friboi.
Mrs Clinton believes that the purchase of Smithfield Foods by JBS-Friboi is a worrying sign of the consolidation in the beef sector and could reduce competition. “I am against that sale and, as president, I would take advantage of the developments in the Agriculture Act to fight against that consolidation,” the candidate to the US presidency told local press.
Acquisitions of US companies by JBS-Friboi, which has also purchased National Beef, were the subject of scrutiny by the US Senate in recent days.
