Changes at September GDS

The organisers of the GDS event in Düsseldorf have announced important changes from the next edition of the show, from September 12–14.
The parallel leathergoods event, GLS, will no longer take place. Instead, leathergoods will be on show as a part of GDS, which is devoted mostly to footwear. Hall 7 of the Düsseldorf exhibition centre will have a special area devoted to high-end handbags: this will be the most interesting part of the show for leathergoods buyers.
The director of the event, Kirstin Deutelmoser, said on announcing the changes: “It makes sense to have very exclusive bags beside exclusive footwear brands. Buyers at this level are looking for both.”
The other major change is that a parallel event that will continue, Global Shoes (for volume buyers of shoes manufactured in Asia), will start and finish one day earlier than GDS. This event will take place in Hall 8 of the site, which stands separate from the other halls involved (1–7), emphasising the distinct nature of Global Shoes.
