A local leather chemical manufacturing and export company in Pakistan claims to have developed eco friendly dyes for leather industry.
A top official of Shafi Reso-Chem has told leatherbiz.com that the new dyes will come to market with name of ‘Hunza’.
Research and development for the products took place in house and the company has set up a new production facility with annual capacity of 500 tonnes in Lahore. It says the Hunza range of leather dyes comes in “attractive shades” that will give “bright and luminous colour” to leather.
The dyes are environmentally friendly, Shafi Reso-Chem argues because they are free from banned chemicals, including Azo compounds and benzidine.
The leather industry in Pakistan uses about 3,500 tonnes of dyes every year, 2,500 tonnes of which come from production facilities in the Asian country.
