Leather throughout the house

A Spanish entrepreneur has exhibited his interior design ideas at the Madrid furniture fair, showing how a house can have an almost completely leather interior.

Carlos Ortiz de Zuñiga's interest in leather began when he bought a plot of grazing land in Paraguay in 1993. He became fascinated by how extensively people in Paraguay used leather and wood in their homes and eventually decided to use the leather he had close to hand to start producing a range of goods.

He started with flasks that he imported to Paraguay from China and covered in local leather. At the Madrid exhibition he showed off a full range: tables, chairs, chests, desks, lamps, sofas, and even condiment sets.

He even covered a 1974 Volkswagen Beetle in leather and included it among the items on display, saying that anyone willing to pay €24,000 could take it away.
