Braspelco: banks go to court over debt
25/04/2008
Banks Goldman Sachs, Pactual Overseas and Maple Trade have decided to go to court to try to recover money owed by Braspelco, once Brazil's largest exporter of leather.
Braspelco, which changed its name to Xinguleder Couros in 2006, is estimated to owe approximately $70 million.
The banks made an attempt to recover $37.8 million from the company in April 2007. In December, Maple Trade made a separate attempt to recover $33.2 million.
Xinguleder Couros now works as a contractor for the Bertin Group.
