EU backs Bolivian centre

The leather industry in Bolivia could soon benefit from a new centre of technology and innovation that a consultancy company is proposing to build in Cochabamba.
The consultancy, Parsec, says work could start on the project at the start of next year with funding from the European Union.
The Bolivian government, which would also have to supply funding, has still to approve the final plans for the centre, but the city council in Cochabamba has already agreed to make land available to build the facility.
Parsec says the new centre would provide the Bolivian tanning sector with technical expertise and training, with new, cleaner technologies and with a laboratory-testing service.
