Clariant figures steady in India

During the first three months of 2008, Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited has reported a small increase in sales and profits.
Net sales for the quarter for Clariant's Indian operation were $51.3 million compared to $51.1 million for the same period in 2007. Its profit after tax was $3.7 million for the quarter, compared to $3.6 million last year.
The Company said in a statement that it has been focusing on promoting wider usage of safer pigments to replace lead and chrome. It also pointed out that rising costs in its supply chain continued to be a challenge.
