Botswana attracts Indian interest
21/04/2008
The Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority (BEDIA) is to host a delegation of 11 Indian investors who will travel to the African country on a mission to explore potential investment opportunities, including in the leather industry.
BEDIA will host a seminar on April 28 and the potential investors will spend the next three days in one-to-one meetings to allow them to weigh up investment opportunities.
The government in Botswana insists that leather manufacturing is viable there. The Botswana Meat Commission has announced that it slaughtered 171,299 head of cattle in 2007 and there is already a tannery in place in the district of Phakalane, a well developed suburb on the outskirts of the capital, Gabarone.
