Furniture retailer Land of Leather has announced poor half-year results and the departure of its chief executive and founder, Paul Briant.

Mr Briant said he was stepping aside after announcing a 35% fall in pre-tax profits for the six-month period that ended in January. His replacement will be Steve Jenkins, who is currently the company's managing director.
