Brazilian packers on acquisition trail again

Brazilian meat packers Marfrig have announced the acquisition of CDB Meats Limited, of Dartford, Kent. The deal was closed for US$12 million to be paid when the contract is signed.
CDB is one of the main UK food importers and distributors which offers a range of products bearing its own brand as well as supplying retailers and food service companies and selling industrialised products. Among its main customers are the largest food retailers in the country. Some of the products sold by CDB are canned meats and tuna, canned foods in general and packed tuna.
The deal includes the acquisition of Ham Packers Limited ("HP"), a subsidiary of CDB, which operates and controls a modern canned food factory located in Saltash, Cornwall, which produces a range of foods sold in the UK market.
Combined sales (CDB+HP) are approximately £30 million per year.
