Machinery on sale at Cuthbertson site

03/03/2008

As reported on leatherbiz last year, one of Australia’s oldest tanneries, Cuthbertson Brothers in Tasmania, has had to close. The company, established in Hobart in 1841, lost a contract to supply leather to local footwear manufacturer, Blundstone a year ago.

Cuthbertson’s spent the rest of 2007 winding down and now an extensive range of machinery that had been in use at the tannery has gone on sale.

The equipment ranges from a splitting machine and a sam-setter from Rizzi, a roller coater from Gemata and a Bergi Kombipress ironer and embosser to an air compressor and wax heating and pumping units.

Machinery supplier Lovel Meehan Stevens is acting as the agent for the sale and is inviting potential buyers to attend open days at the site on April 9 and 10.
