BASF announces further price increases

29/02/2008

Having announced that it has raised prices for ethylhexylamine in Europe earlier in the week (see www.leatherbiz.com February 27, 2008), German leather chemicals producer BASF has now announced plans to raise the European prices for hydrosulfites, as of March 1.

The company will increase prices for the bleaching and reducing agents by at least €120 per metric ton, or the equivalent in local currencies, as contracts allow, due to rising prices for key raw materials such as sulphur, natural gas and caustic soda, as well as continued high energy and transportation costs.
