Optimism shines through at Le Cuir à Paris
There was an air of optimism at the recent Le Cuir à Paris in terms of both exhibitor and visitor numbers and the trends on show.
Despite concerns over an economic slowdown, the event attracted some 236 exhibitors from 15 countries, 36 of which attended the show for the first time.
The Italian presence was again strong, accounting for 56% of the exhibiting space, followed by France with 23% and Spain at 10%.
Visitor numbers also improved, rising 5.3% to reach 10,649 over the four-day show. Italy again ranked top of the list, with Italian visitors increasing 22.57%, British numbers improved 17.5%, American visitors increased 16%, Spanish attendance improved 11%, Japanese visitor numbers rose 4.8%, while the number of French visitors also increased 6.9%.
The trends for summer 2009, which were presented at the show under the seven themes of In Love, Blue, Worrying, Carefree, Monacal, Turbulent, Green, were also vibrant, with bright colours leading the way.
“For this resolutely optimistic season, colour takes centre stage and joins forces with materials. Impossible to predict which will be champion: blues are playing across all tones, greens are insistent, yellows are intensifying, terracotta, lobster and mandarin persist, coloured neutrals calm things down. White covers all surfaces, black and red outline contours. Pink insists despite predictions of its imminent demise each season,” commented Claude Vuillermet, stylist.
