Minerva to double leather production
In a move aimed at continuing its “strategy of adding value in its Leather Division”, Brazilian producer of fresh and processed beef and beef by-products, Minerva has leased a second tanning unit in the state of São Paulo.
The additional tannery, which is located in Monte Aprazivel, has a daily production capacity of 2,500 pieces per day and will manufacture wet blue, semi-finished and finished leather destined for the automotive and residential upholstery, footwear and bag sectors.
The company leased its first tanning unit in Fernandopolis in August last year, where it already manufactures produces 2,500 pieces of semi-finished and finished leather per day.
With the new unit raising daily production to 5,000 pieces, the company is already planning further expansion, with the aim of achieving a capacity of 7,000 pieces by the end of this year, of which 10% will be wet blue, 70% semi-finished, and 20% finished leather.
Meanwhile, the company has also completed its acquisition of domestic beef producer Lord Meat. No financial terms of the agreement were disclosed.
