TFL launches new lipase-based degreasing agent
Having launched a new ionic surfactant, Borron DN, developed for manufacturing ecological leather last month (see www.leatherbiz.com January 16, 2008), German leather chemicals manufacturer TFL has launched another new degreasing agent, Borron DL.
Said to be effective for all beamhouse processes, lipase-based Borron DL is said to improve cutting yield by boosting the effect of other special chemicals used in the beamhouse, resulting in an improved lay-out and area yield without making grain or bellies loose.
The product is said to support the soaking effect and enhance grease removal, especially from the grain, to produce leather with a good uniformity of dyeing and retanning, while hiding defects and offering very good inner softness. It is also said to substantially optimise scud-loosening and hair removal thus improving fine hair and hair root removal.
In ecological terms it is also said to offer advantages as it is readily biodegradable and facilitates the removal and degradation of grease in the effluent treatment plant thus substantially reducing COD values.
