Leather exports continue to climb
Vietnam’s leather, leathergoods and footwear sectors are continuing to achieve significant growth in exports having posted a 7% year-on-year rise in January alone.
According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, leather, leathergoods and leather footwear reached $460 million in January this year, up from $429.9 million in the same month of 2007.
Unsurprisingly, footwear accounted for the largest volume at $400 million, up from $379.50 million in the same month last year, while leathergoods exports including handbags, wallets, suitcases and umbrellas improved 19.05% to reach $60 million, up from $50.4 million.
The country posted total exports of $4.5 billion for the month.
