China to allow Peruvian leather imports

06/02/2008

Following drawn out negotiations, begun in 2004, between Peru’s Ministry of Agriculture and animal health agency (SENASA) and China’s Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), the Asian country has agreed to allow imports of Peruvian equine leather into the Chinese market.

In a statement, SENASA said that having met all of the animal health standards required by both countries, Peru’s request for an export certificate had been granted.
