Clariant to launch new products at Anpic

04/02/2008

Swiss chemicals producer Clariant will present a number of new developments for the leather industry as well as its autumn/winter leather trends at Anpic in Mexico on February 14-17.

Focusing on new challenges for the retanning of chrome-free leathers to meet ecological and aesthetic standards as well as profitable upgrading techniques for higher cutting yields and improved dyes, Clariant will present its latest fashion trends for leather under the theme ‘Sense the difference. Feel the fashion’, which, according to the company, includes “surprising colours and styles on different leathers” and “seasonal statements used in practical applications”.

The company will showcase numerous effects which can be achieved with its products, such as its pretanning system Granofin F-60 combined with retanning products such as Tanicor SCU, Tergotan PMB, Tanicor APF and Derminol SJB, which are said to produce leathers with an even and tight grain, which are especially well-suited to automotive chrome-free leathers and vegetable-tanned leathers for shoe and leather goods; as well as techniques for upgrading using its Melio Aquabase and Melio Grounds systems for low grade raw materials to increase profitability and meet market demands.

The company will also present a brand new topcoat system especially for soft leathers such as furniture leather and shoe upper leather nappas, based on its Aqualen Top DC-2050 (dull) and Aqualen Top GC-2051 (gloss) as well as three new shades of its well-established Supronil HK range.

Other new products on show will include Melio Wax PO-408, which is said to be a very effective pull-up wax for conventional and water-resistant pull-up leathers; Aqualen Top 81, for high resistant topcoats; Melio Aquabase RN-03 and Melio Aquabase RN-04, which are strong filling products for pre-bases; and Melio Ground UP, a high filling and sealing pre-base that maintains the crust’s softness.
