Le Salon de la Maroquinerie “reaches” out
The organisers of the recent (January 25-27) leathergoods fair Le Salon de la Maroquinerie in Paris have described the event as “excellent”, having attracted 7% more visitors compared with last February’s show, a quarter of which came from abroad.
While approximately half of the foreign visitors came from European countries such as Italy, Belgium, Spain, the UK, Germany, Portugal and Greece, there was also a significant rise in the numbers travelling from Eastern Europe, the USA, and Asia — with Japanese visitors accounting for 5% of the total number of overseas attendees.
The show also attracted numerous new exhibitors, which accounted for an impressive 15% of the total number of companies that participated, with 25% of exhibitors coming from abroad.
As well as presenting the latest trends in leathergoods and fashion, the show also hosted a conference led by Le Centre Technique Cuir Chaussure Maroquinerie (CTC) on January 27, which focused on the use of certain chemicals used in leathergoods with regard to the recently implemented REACH legislation.
