China checks leather quality

29/01/2008

According to reports, in an effort to lift Chinese-made leather products to an international standard of quality, China has opened its first national-level leather quality supervision and inspection centre in the east of the country, in Zhejiang.

Established through an alliance between the Quality Inspection Bureau of Zhejiang Province and the authorities of Haining city, the new facility will test leather and leather goods from across China to ensure that they comply with EU and international standards and therefore reduce the volume of products that need to be recalled.
