According to a report in the New Times newspaper in Rwanda, the African country’s only leather manufacturer Rwanda Leather Industry is aiming to well and truly put its leather on the international map through expanding production and beginning to export material.

The firm is said to have already ordered a substantial volume of new leather processing machinery from the Netherlands, which once installed will increase production capacity to 10,000 hides and 25,000 skins per month. It then plans to focus on producing  wet blue, crust and finished leather, with exports expected to begin as soon as march this year.
