Smit and Zoon launches Synthol GS 606

Dutch leather chemicals producer Smit and Zoon has launched a new product, Synthol GS 606, which it claims “looks like a fatliquor and emulsifies like one, but is a different product”.

Developed around a specially modified polymer, the new product is said to produce leathers with an entirely different handle in a single, all-in-one process which is easily applied in the drum.

Unlike conventional fatliquor combinations which act separately once they are inside the drum, Synthol GS 606 is said to act like a homogenous compound, spreading evenly through the leather as one single substance and reacting less sensitively to differences within the leather.

According to the company, the polymer is also fully lightfast and heat resistant and is particularly well-suited for garment and upholstery leathers.
